CALL BACKS

Thank you to all who auditioned.  This is a list of the student actors that we need to look at one more time.   THIS IS NOT THE CAST LIST!  Please check back on this site, Saturday after 7:00 pm for the FULL CAST LIST.

Please know, at this time we are looking for a VERY IMPORTANT PERSON.  We are looking for a student to be the SHOW MANAGER.  If you are can be organized, focused and trustworthy this may be a great position for you.  In this role you are an Assistant to Mr. Cleveland, Ms. Paullin and Ms. Gleason.  This is very important for the smooth run of a show season.  Please talk to Mr. Cleveland or Ms. Paullin about this.

WARNING:  Please make good decisions about using technology to share your emotions!  Sharing your happy or sad thoughts (excited or angry thoughts) can be very dangerous to your relationships to your friends in the Performing Arts Department, as well as your future in the Choir and Theater Department.  If you don’t get the role that you have been hoping for, please take some time away from your phone and your computer.  ALSO, if you DO get the role that you have been hoping for, be careful of what you put into print!  You could easily crush a friend if they didn’t get the role that they have dreamed of.  Be conscious and caring about your relationships with your friends.  Also know that if you spew poison on Facebook, know in advance that you will be burning many bridges for the rest of the year.  THINK – WAIT and then respond.        This is written in love from your directors!

IMPORTANT:  READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION.

Thursday, 2:30 -  CALL BACK REHEARSAL!

Mrs. Gleason will be guiding you through this rehearsal.  This time is for you.  It’s to help your actual call back on Friday go more smoothly.  Just think, on Friday at your real call back audition, it will not be the “first time” that you singing the actual character songs.  On Friday, no one will be given any time to spend practicing the songs, so this is it.  We really hope that you can make good use of this time!!     (Don’t forget to thank Mrs. Gleason too as this is an added day of rehearsing for her!!!)

MORE INFO TO KNOW & UNDERSTAND

Please understand that at the actual callbacks you may not be asked to sing every song that you learn at the rehearsal, but you should be prepared to do this, if you really want to make the best impression.  If the directors ‘hear and sing’ what they are needing to ‘hear and see’, then they will not just continue to have you sing.

Make sure to check every character on this call back list as some students are called back for multiple roles and should be as prepared as possible for each character.

Please note the list of songs that you will need to know.  If you already have the CD from LES MISERABLES you can spend some time listening to the songs before you get to the rehearsal.  Maybe even YOUTUBE them.  We are just asking for your VERY BEST on Friday.  We as directors have the toughest job in the world on Friday night, from 5:30 onwards.  But here’s to the best LES MIZ production ever!

What is a Call Back?

A call back is a second audition, which helps the directors narrow down the field of performers.  You get a second try to audition for specific roles that you are asked to play.  You will be pushed a little further to see what you can do creatively, dramatically and where your vocal skills and acting skills will fit best in our show.  We evaluate what you can do with a short amount of time to prepare.  We look at body types and heights as well.  Can you, with the right makeup, wig & costume make the audience believe that you are your character?

1.      Call Backs will be posted on our website no later than 9:00 pm on Wednesday, Sept 16 at this site:    wlwmusical.com.  Next to it might be the names of the characters that you are being called back for.  You then have till Friday, after school to get as familiar with the songs the character sings.

2.      The Call Back Audition will be on Friday, Sept. 18th from 2:20 – 5:00.  Plan on staying the entire time.  Possibly longer.

3.      Be prepared to sing, act and improvise.  This is when you will need to be familiar with songs from LES MIZ.  We will give you the music, Mrs. Gleason will play, and you must sing the song.  You must be able to sing AND act “full out” for us.  Again, this is not a singing contest, but a time where we SEE an ACTOR who can tell his/her lines through a song!!  This is more important than you will ever know.  It’s not just the notes, it’s the character!!

4.      Reality:  If you are trying for a principal part and think you have a good chance, come prepared to show us your best.  You should have as many characters’ songs learned as possible and then you MUST sell yourself that you ARE those characters.

5.      Please be prepared with a GREAT attitude and be flexible.  You might come in with one role in mind, but we want to see you in another role, or maybe both.  How will you respond to this change??  We will be watching closely for this, and for your fabulous attitude.  (Sorry, but we are NOT interested in prima-dona cast members who are hard to work with.  Leave your attitude at the door!)

6.      By this time you KNOW that we are looking for “a look”.   Is the way that you carry yourself and the way that you are dressed for this CALL BACK going to help you give us that “look”?  Plan ahead for this.  It does not happen automatically for anyone!  Remember to impress us at how fabulous you look up on stage.
